John Pillar, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008. Beloved husband of Mary Jane Mattern Pillar; loving father of Karen and Gary Vogel, Leslie and Mark Mitros, and Rob and Ginger Pillar; brother of Marie McDonough and the late Marty Pillar; loving grandfather of David, Rachel, Elizabeth, John, Peter, Andrew, Emily and Claire; and great-grandfather of Lane Eakin. John was the founder and successful businessman of Pillar Industrial Products of Leetsdale. He enlivened his family with his spirit of generosity and his zest for life. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Road (724-772-8800). Funeral Saturday morning with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kilian Church, Mars, with Father Charles Bober as celebrant.
