Of Shaler Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015. Husband of the late Betty A. (Dern) Carnprobst; father of Renee E. Gaus (Kevin) and Blaine J. Carnprobst (Mary); brother of the late George, Frank and Kathleen Carnprobst; grandfather of Ryan Gaus (Miranda), Brandon Gaus (Jaclyn), Adam Gaus, Megan Gaus, Jenny, Jess, Matt and Brian Carnprobst; two great-granddaughters, Reagan and Maelyn Gaus. Friends received Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa of Avila Church Thursday 10 a.m. John was a machinist at Heppenstall Steel Company for 32 years and a substitute teacher at Beattie Tech and North Hills High School for 20 years. He was an avid Civil War historian, wrote for The Blue & Gray Magazine, and had an extensive knowledge of The Allegheny Arsenal. He also had a love of Lionel Trains. Above all, he cherished time with his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
