John B. Blakley Jr of McCandless, PA passed away peacefully on Sat December 2, 2017 at The Cranberry Place, Cranberry Twp.

John was born to the late Dr. John B. & Nancy J. Blakley on January 15, 1948 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was the eldest of three children. John attended Shadyside Academy, Grove City College and Slippery Rock University. John served in the U. S. Army Reserve from 1970-1976. He was an Elementary School Counselor at Rockwood Elementary in Rockwood PA.

John is survived by his siblings William M. (Nancy) Blakley, San Jose, CA and Melissa A. (Thomas) Weber, Fombell, PA, his nieces and nephews Coreen (Charlie) Lemcke, Kevin Blakley, Kayla Blakley, Sydney L. Weber, Thomas “Blake” Weber, and great nephews Jack & Carson Lemcke. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nancy, and his uncle, Thomas M.Blakley.

John was an avid golfer, handball player and sports enthusiast. He enjoyed a great game of gin, chess and billiards. John was known for his kindhearted nature, his love of many long time dear friends and family, we thank you all for your love and support.

Family and friends are welcome to visit and celebrate his life on Saturday January 13, 2018 from 10-12 am followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Rd Cranberry Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a written “favorite” John story to be shared at the service or for family keepsake. Memorial contributions can be made to The Cranberry Place, Family Hospice or Grove City College.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Cranberry Place and Family Hospice for all the wonderful care they gave to John the past couple months.

    We are very sorry to hear of John’s passing. We were his former neighbors at 2301 Ambassador Lane. He was always very friendly and kind to us. He was helpful to us when we moved in to the neighborhood.
