Visitation: Private

Service: Private

Joan Curran Bope

age 89, of Franklin Park, formerly of Ross Twp., made the transitional journey from her home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 27, 2020.   Joan was a loving and devoted wife to the late George A. Bope Jr. and mother to Mark C. Bope of Pittsburgh, the late George A. “Duke” Bope III and Janet Lee McCloskey (Patrick) of Franklin Park.  Also survived by her only grandson, John P “Jack” McCloskey and a sister Jane Carpenter of Northumberland, Pa.  Loved by all of  her nephews and nieces, Joan is well remembered as a fun aunt with an Irish wit.   As the matriarch of many remembered holidays at their home on Country Lane, Joan’s cooking skills and entertainment prowess provided a warm and loving atmosphere. The Bope Ham is an iconic recipe and was shared on many occasions not only in her home on Country Lane, but also  shared with friends and family near and far.  Perhaps her most remembered moments  were  spent in  witness of her strong Christian faith.  She shared the salvation message with all who would inquire, and oftentimes went out of her way to help someone in need.  Joan was an active member of St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickley and later at Christ Church at Grove Farm under the tutelage of John Guest. Due to the current Corona Virus Pandemic, services and internment will be private with arrangements made by DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.  In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to  consider a donation to Samaritan’s Purse in memory of Joan C. Bope.
