Jeanne Cray Bukauskas, 101, of Town of McCandless, PA, passed away on February 10, 2024. Wife of Raymond Sr. Loving mother of Cynthia (Ken) Garing, Raymond Jr., Richard, and Clare (David) Kalmbach. Grandmother of Alexandra, Kelsey, and Amanda. Four great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister, Ruth Fagan. Jeanne was preceded in death by siblings James Cray, and Patricia Ellison.
Jeanne was born to parents Clara Schlegel and James Cray, on June 17, 1922 in Pittsburgh, PA. Jeanne had a life of achievement and commitment, with a deep appreciation of her faith.
She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1939. She went on to study Education at Mount Mercy College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 1943 and received her Master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh in 1951.
Jeanne was a full-time teacher, and while raising a family, continued as a dedicated substitute for North Allegheny School District.
As a lifetime devout Catholic, Jeanne was an original member of St. Alexis Church. She prayed the rosary everyday. Even in retirement, Jeanne continued involvement with active leadership roles. She was an admired water aerobics instructor for over 20 years. Her hobbies included being an avid reader and puzzle solver. She also loved knitting and camping.
The family has entrusted Devlin Funeral Home with arrangements. A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday Feb. 14; 2-4 & 6-8. Mass will be held at 11 on Thursday, Feb. 15 at St. Alexis Church, St. Aidan Parish.
