It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Ellen Rock, a vibrant soul with energy and a zeal for connecting, loving and cherishing everyone around her. Her unwavering enthusiasm for her faith, devotion to family, passion for travel, creating friendships, commitment to volunteering and joy in gathering with loved ones was shared generously with everyone around her.
She cherished many wonderful years raising her family with her devoted, loving, funny and supportive husband, Harry Joseph Rock, who preceded her in death. Her role as a mother was one she treasured deeply, raising four children and remaining actively involved in their lives, offering devoted support to her children and families until the day of her passing. She was a loving mother to Dean Rock (Julie), Diane Hake (Dennis), Steven Rock (Michelle), Harry J Rock II (Renee). Jean is survived by her sister Blanche “Dolly” Kulbacki.
She especially loved just being “in the mix” with her grandchildren, playing games, singing, vacationing, and cherishing family gatherings and special milestones, from sporting events to graduations and everything in between. In her generous life, always willing to give, she created countless special memories as “Gramma” to her twelve grandchildren, Kelsey, Ryan, Evan, Sarah, Kayla, Lauren, Adrienne, Allie, Meagan, Devin, Amara, and Niya.
Beyond her family, she had a passion for travel, volunteering, reading and loved to explore new cities during vacations with her friends and family. Her heart, home and family was in Pittsburgh but her zest for sunshine, adventure and joyfully meeting and welcoming new friends led her to becoming a “snowbird” in Florida in the winter months. She was a beloved member of her community, her catholic church and was always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile.
Although she leaves us behind, we take comfort in our faith, family and friendships, knowing that she is now at peace. Her vibrant spirit will live on in our memories and the love she shared with us will forever remain in our hearts. We love you Jean, Aunt Jean, Mom, Gramma.

Our family is saddened to hear of Jean’s passing. She made several trips to the Chicago area to visit her Aunt Bernideane (my mom) and also researched the Bobshosky family history, sharing her findings with us. May she rest in peace.
I made a mistake, my husband and I sat with Jean at the Highmark picnic and played cards. I also knew Jean from AARP we all lost a good friend. 💕
