Janet Izzi Shapiro (Kupchak)
Age 89, of North Hills, Pittsburgh passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Rolf Shapiro.
Born on January 29, 1934 in Pittsburgh to Oldrich and Ann Kupchak. Janet was formerly employed at Allegheny General Hospital as a manager of the credentialing department. She always had a smile on her face which was infectious. She is a survivor of cancer and fought the battle courageously and always with a positive attitude. Her passions were traveling the world, gardening, reading, socializing-especially at Happy Hour with a Manhattan, spending time with her two cats and with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is the loving mother of Edmund (Leigh Ann) Izzi, Richard (Anne) Izzi, and Joseph (Colleen) Izzi. She is also survived by her two sisters, Donna Eckenrode and Diane Gallagher, nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren: Jessica (Brian) Reiter , Alyssa (Landen) Rohan, Julia & Gianna Izzi, Matthew (Kristin) Izzi, Joey and Nicholas Izzi and 6 great grandchildren: Matthew, Rocco, Angelo, Olive, Ozzie and Koa.

Janet was a friend in Pittsburgh. I sent her a 90th birthday card and just tried to call her. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She was the light of her family. Janet and Rolfe, and Michael and I shared many occasions together. Janet lit up the room when she walked in. My condolences to the whole family.
