Jane E. Schick

Jane Elizabeth Schick was called to heaven at Sherwood Oaks, Cranberry Township, PA on April 6, 2020. She was born to the late Frances and James Smith on July 27, 1929 in New York City. She was a stylish “New Yorker”! She was married to the late George R Schick in 1949 and they had 65 blessed years together until George’s death in 2015. Jane and George moved to Pittsburgh in 1975 and resided in the North Hills. Jane lives on in the hearts of her children Anne Pennie (Tom) of Pittsburgh; Richard Schick (Barbara) of Littleton, CO; Barbara Raju (Robert) of Dayton, OH; Susan Jenny (Ross) of Rochester, PA. Her legacy of love endures through her eight grandchildren: Ellen, Megan; Kristen, Matthew, Ryan; Jason, Christopher, Dayna and eleven great-grandchildren: Nadia, Serena; Grace, Emma; Lucy, Molly; Coen, Tatum, Porter, Beckett; Jayce.

Jane, a devout Catholic, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was very generous and giving, always putting other’s needs before her own. Throughout her life, she volunteered in the schools and community organizations fulfilling her passion to help others. She and George traveled the world and made many lasting friendships around the globe. They moved to Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in 2011. Jane’s favorite expression was “tempus fugit” (time flies). Her favorite prayer, which she learned from her mother, was the Guardian Angel prayer. In Jane’s last years, her love of God and her family brought her peace and joy. She had no fear of dying and was comforted to know that she would be with God and be reunited with George and her family. Jane will be missed by all those who loved her.

Our family would like to thank all the staff at Sherwood Oaks who made Jane and George feel at home there and took tender loving care of them until the end. We also would like to thank Bridges Hospice for their attentive and loving care of Jane. Given the times, funeral services will be private. Jane and George will be buried together at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Warrendale, PA.

If you so desire, donations may be made in memory of Jane to the Sherwood Oaks Scholarship Fund, to support the students who lovingly serve the residents. Please direct donations to “Sherwood Oaks Fund attn: Scholarship Fund” at Sherwood Oaks, 100 Norman Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066
