James J. Fasnacht, 93,of McCandless Township passed away peacefully on August,15 2022.  He was born in Pittsburgh on December 2, 1928.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy, his wife of 71 years, and their four children, Nancy Hasbach (Robert) of Colleyville, TX, James (Evelyn) of Houston, TX, Karen Kimicata (Thomas) of Monroeville, PA, and Amy Rosenbaum (Michael) of Golden, CO. He is also survived by four grandchildren:  Amy Savarino, Annie Pitschman, Abbey Kimicata, & Michael Hasbach, two great-grandchildren, Dane and Jacey Pitschman, brother, Richard Fasnacht, and several nieces and nephews. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1946, James enlisted in the U. S. Army and during this enlistment, spent one year as part of occupational forces in Japan.   After his discharge, he attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.  Several years later while working at Mellon Institute, he returned to the University of Pittsburgh earning an MBA degree. James was employed as a chemist in the Research and Development department laboratories for Union Carbide and Carbon Chemical Co, PPG Industries, and Dacar Chemical Co.  He then became more involved in an administrative capacity and retired in 1994 as president of Plastic Tooling Supply.  He was an emeritus member the American Chemical Society, a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Business Society, and a life-member of the Elks.  After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing golf, and volunteering at Vincentian Home.
Friends and family will be received 2 to to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Monday, August 22, 2022 at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at St. Aidan Parish, St. Alexis Church Old Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA.  Burial will follow at Allegheny Memorial Mausoleum, 1600 Duncan Ave., Allison Park, PA 15101. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, St. Louise Convent, McKnight Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, or to St. AidanParish, 10090 Old Perry Hwy, Wexford, PA 15090.
