ONDASH, James G., 61, of Freedom, on Monday December 5, 2016. Mr. Ondash was born on Nov. 12, 1955 in Waynesburg, the son of the late John W. Sr. and Margaret (Skobel) Ondash. Beloved husband of the former Roxann Young, whom he married on Nov. 19, 2014; loving father of Amanda, Danielle, and Stephen Ondash; brother of Patricia Ondash, Marcella (John) Persin, John W. Jr. (Pamela) Ondash, and Paul (Becky) Ondash; and proud grandfather of Lauren McCoy. James was preceded in death by his brother Gregory.
James started his coal mining career at the Vesta #5 mine in Vestaburg in 1973, and was a member of the United Mine Workers, Local 762. James worked at Lion Mining Co., in Jennerstown, Pa from 1986 until 1991, before accepting a job at Emerald Mine, Waynesburg, where he held many different job titles until retiring in 2015.
Family and friends received Thursday from 2-4, 6-8 at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp, where funeral services will be held Friday at noon.
