James F. DeReno, age 77, of Ross Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Born on July 7, 1946. James was a devoted father, loving brother, and cherished grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family and community.

James was the beloved father of Joseph R. DeReno, Matthew J. DeReno, and daughter-in-law, Monika A. DeReno. He was a devoted brother to his sister, Helen (Creaturo) DeReno. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Bessy (Dreslinsky) DeReno, and his siblings, Joseph DeReno, Anthony “Junior” DeReno, Rosemary (Esposito) DeReno, Nancy (Gratzinger) DeReno, and Susanna (O’Leary) DeReno. James also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren and is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

James spent most of his professional life as a maintenance engineer for Local 95, notably serving at Paper Craft, Clark Candy, Kaufman’s, Gimbels, Horne’s, and the Benedum Center. In addition to his career, James shared his expertise by teaching electrical technology classes at several trade schools in the Pittsburgh area.

James had a passion for chess, enjoyed tinkering on cars, and took great pleasure in fixing things. Above all, he treasured family activities and holidays, cherishing every moment spent with his family and grandchildren.

James F. DeReno will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His dedication, kindness, and love for his family will be remembered and cherished forever.

Friends received Wednesday, 4-8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 806 Perry Hwy, North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Sebastian Church, Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
