Isabelle Christenson
November 06, 2024 - August 13, 2008
Isabelle Rose Christenson, 10, precious daughter of Michelle and Dan Christenson, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at home. Isabelle loved the movie “Annie” and was proud to have been an orphan in the Comtra production last year. Believing “you’re never fully dressed without a smile,” Isabelle lived each day to the fullest and touched the lives of everyone she met. She always believed in miracles and was forever grateful for the two donors who saved her life with the transplants of five organs. You can “bet your bottom dollar” that Isabelle is singing “the sun will come out tomorrow” in heaven. Isabelle also is survived by big sister Madeline; grandparents Barb and Jim Shumaker and Paul and Karol Christenson; aunts and uncles Greg and Karen Shumaker, Zach Shumaker and Stacy and Scott Weber; cousins Anna and Aidan Shumaker; great-grandmothers Ellen Altsman and Dorothy Woodfill, and other family and friends. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, Rochester Road. A funeral service celebrating Isabelle’s life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church. Please meet at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, 1250 Waterfront Place, Floor 5, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Note that the contribution is in memory of Isabelle Christenson.

Christenson Family,
I wanted to express my sorrow for your loss. I know that few things bring as much sadness as the loss of a child. Although I never had the chance to meet Isabelle, I wanted to share with you what has brought me a great deal of comfort when I have lost a loved one in death. In John 5:28,29 there we are promised that soon those who have fallen asleep in death have the hope of coming back to life here on earth. Although I understand that this hope may not bring immediate comfort, it is a promise that will soon be realized, bringing untold joy to all that knew Isabelle. I once again am sorry for your loss.
We love you all more than words can express, and we pray God will hold you all in His hands through this time of unbearable sadness. We are always here for you no matter when or where!
Love,
Gary Janet Kaylee Reko Sierra
A Better Place
She’s in a better place right now
Than she’s ever been before;
All pain is gone; she’s now at rest;
Nothing troubles her anymore.
It’s we who feel the burden of
Our sadness and our grief;.
We have to cry, to mourn our loss,
Before we get relief.
We know we’ll reconnect with her
At the end of each life’s road;
We’ll see her cherished face again
When we release our earthly load.
