Irene Musial

On March 31, 2014 Irene C. (Gorski) Musial, beloved wife of the late Steven R. Musial, Sr. and of the late Alphonse C. Rock, passed away at the Baptist Home on Castle Shannon Blvd. in the south hills.
She was born on June 9, 1922, in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Josephine (Rozlucka) Gorski. She was the sister of the late Robert, Eugene and Donald Gorski.
Dr. Musial attended Duquesne University, George Washington University and obtained the B.A., cum laude, the M. Ed., as well as the Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Musial was a retired English teacher, Reading teacher and Reading Coordinator for the North Hills School District. She was a member of Christian Mothers, and of St. Athanasius Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance of America and a volunteer Ombudsman with the Pennsylvania Dept. of aging.
Survivors include her son, Steven R. Musial, II (Phyllis) of Franklin Park, Elaine Klos (Dean) of Venetia, PA, and Margaret Musial – Slagel (Peter) of Richmond, VA. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Megan and Sarah Musial, and Kathryn, Michael, Susannah and Emily Klos, her brother John Gorski of Allison Park and her sister-in-law, Gretchen Gorski, of North Versailles, as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway in Ross Township. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. Athanasius Church in West View. Interment will be in the North Side Catholic Cemetery, Ross Township.
