Herbert A. “Herb” Hood, 79, of Landisville, Pa., formerly of Ohio Township, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, in Lancaster General Hospital following an unexpected illness. He was born in Pittsburgh to the late Andrew C. and Georgia R. (Lippert) Hood and was the husband of the late Carolyn A. (Quail) Hood, who went to her Lord in 2006. Mr. Hood had worked for the Dravo Corp. since 1950 as an electrical engineer and traveled around the world designing and running projects in the U.S. and throughout China, Australia, Japan and Venezuela. He served his country in the Pennsylvania National Guard and was a master sergeant in the Army before being honorably discharged in 1952. After retiring, Mr. Hood worked with his wife at the Northwood East Realty Co. before retiring to Myrtle Beach. Herb and Carolyn enjoyed traveling for pleasure to places like the Outer Banks, China, Greece, Ireland, France, Istanbul and Italy. He continued to be active in his travels, visiting Oregon and Key West in 2006 and Key West and Vieques, Puerto Rico, in 2007. His spirit of adventure will be missed greatly and always will be remembered with a smile. He will be remembered lovingly by his family: Carol Lynne Euler (David), of Albuquerque, N.M., Judith Ann Scheidler, of Bethel Park, Margaret Louise “Peggie” Stauffer (Jeff), of Landisville, Patricia Colleen Neurohr (Robert), of Wexford, and Herbert Andrew Jr. (Sonja), of Glen Ridge, N.J.; grandchildren: Tom Jr., Jason, Tim and Theresa Scheidler, Joseph Veltre III, James McMullin, Michael, Matt and John Neurohr and Anders, Quinlan and Liam Hood; great-grandchildren: Madison, Thomas and Lacy Scheidler, and brothers: Franklin (Dottie), Don (Carol) and Thomas (Phyllis). Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Ross. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday in St. John Neumann Church.
