Helen Benson

of McCandless, on Fri 6-23-2006. Helen had a great love for Catholic Charity work volunteering for 30 years at Vincentian Home, Ross Twp., while also serving patients at Passavant Hospital as a Eucharistic Minister. She began working at Bell Telephone Company in 1941 and became one of its first female managers. After retiring in 1974, she served as a secretary and volunteer at St. Sebastian’s Parish, Ross Twp., where she also helped prepare elementary students for their first communion. She participated in the annual Pro Life March in Washington DC for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling to her annual vacation in Ocean City, New Jersey and made several trips to Rome to visit Vatican City. Born in Kittaning on 1-8-1922, daughter of the late Charles and Maude Benson; sister of Phoebe Starr and the late Charles Benson, Jr., Maxine Deasy, Jean Welsh and F. Thomas Benson II; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Sunday 1-6 PM at the Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Highway, Ross Twp. Mass of Christian Burial St. Sebastian Church Monday 1 PM.
