Lattari; loving mother of Arcangela (John) Balest of Franklin Park, Francesca (Fred) Lattari-McKiernan of West View, and Vincent (Rebeccah Hoffman) of Gibsonia; adoring grandmother of Francesca Balest, Michael, Christopher, Sarah, Caroline, and Nicholas Lattari; cherished cousin of Antoinette and Carlo Lattari. Geraldine immigrated to the U.S. in 1948, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in French and Spanish Languages from Duquesne University and a Master’s Degree in Languages & Literature from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1958, Geraldine began a thirty-year teaching career at Homestead (later Steel Valley) School District teaching French and Spanish. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading a good book, staying up late and spending time with her grandchildren. She was “Mammina” to her children, extended family and many who knew her. The family thanks Gateway Hospice and Sunrise of McCandless Renaissance Team for the excellent care and attention given to Geraldine at the end of her life. The family is grateful also for previous caregivers who cared for her with affection and respect. Due to the Corona Virus situation, services and interment are private. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. To the family of Señora Lattari. I was thinking about all the wonderful times sitting at the Homestead Middle School and the classes with Senora Lattari. She was such a kind and wonderful teacher. My deepest sympathy to you.
