Erma H. Barnett, 94, passed away on October 28, 2026. Daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Fersch; wife of the late Elmer Barnett; mother to Teresa (Rocco) Santucci, Linda (The late Joe) Fung, the late David and Michael Barnett; grandmother to Julia Santucci (Joel Schubert), Jay Fung, Mike (Sandy) Santucci, Brian (Lori) Fung, Jake (Sarah) Barnett, Katie (Greg) Lassinger, Corey (Aurelia) Fung the late Amanda Fung; great grandmother to 11 great grandchildren.

A woman of boundless warmth and generosity, Erma was known to many as a “second mother.” She possessed a rare, giving heart and would truly help anyone at any time, never hesitating to put others before herself.

Central to her life was her deep Catholic faith, which she lovingly passed down to her children. She was a woman of devout prayer, attending Mass and Novena regularly, holding a deep devotion to Mary, and praying the rosary often. Believing strongly in the power of service and Catholic education, she dedicated her time volunteering at her church and was a proud past member of the Ladies of Charity.

In her earlier years, she was a talented seamstress, lovingly creating everything from beautiful dresses for her daughters to outfits for their Barbie dolls. As time went on, she poured her creativity into painting pottery, playing cards with friends, and seeking out new adventures. She loved music and at every wedding could often be found bringing joy to the room dancing the polka. Whether it was catching a Pittsburgh Pirates game or exploring a new place, she embraced life with a joyful spirit.

Nothing meant more to her than family and the magic of the holidays. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely, and she had a special gift for connecting with young hearts- she would play any game with any child at any time. She absolutely loved driving around to look at Christmas lights, and the annual Christmas festival at the trolley museum was a treasured tradition. Her absolute favorite time of the year was Christmas Eve, surrounded by the family she adored. She also held a deep love for the 4th of July, finding pure joy in watching fireworks light up the night sky with her loved ones by her side.
In her later years, she resided at The Haven senior residence. She truly cherished her time there, quickly making wonderful new friends and thoroughly enjoying all of the activities, social events, and lively parties they provided for their residents.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life. A visitation will be held on Sunday November 1, 2026 from 1 to 5 at Devlin Funeral Home on Perry Highway. A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow on Monday November 2 at 10 am at St Cyril of Alexandria Church, Christ our Savior Parish, on Brighton Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Haven Activities Fund, 1 Windsor Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15237

To my favorite aunt Erma. She was always full of fun and laughter. Aunt Erma went out of her way to make sure everyone was having a good time at each and every occasion. She treated all with kindness and love. I hope the folks in heaven don’t get mad when she beats them at her favorite “500” card game.

Please accept my deepest condolences on your mom’s passing. I came to her apartment a few times to do her hair. She was such a lovely woman.
