Eric Shaun Kampi was born on June 12, 1983 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Eric graduated from North Hills High School in 2002.
Eric received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Penn State University in 2007, with his graduation ceremony taking place on Mother’s Day.
During high school Eric worked at Giant Eagle Supermarket in Ross Township. During college he interned at the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.
Eric served 8 years in the Army National Guard Reserves. He was deployed in 2008 active duty to Iraq for one year of service in the infantry.
After his honorable discharge from the Army National Guard on his return from Iraq, Eric worked at Three Rivers Casino and then for Brinks Armored Car in Pittsburgh.
Eric worked as a deputy in corrections at SCI Chester near Philadelphia.
Pre-deceased by his grandparents. Survived by his mother Adrienne Kampi, brother Brian Vitunac, father Edward Vitunac, stepfather Louis Kampi, uncle Chuck Kulik, along with many other loving aunts and uncles and cousins.
Eric enjoyed visiting his family in Cape Coral, Florida. Eric passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in Philadelphia over the Christmas holidays. Eric was dedicated to his job in law enforcement and to his co-workers at SCI Chester. Eric loved football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
