POHASKI EMILY KATHERINE
Age 92, peacefully on Sunday morning, Feb. 17, she passed away at her nursing home. She is survived by her brother, Charles Usalis of St. Louis, MO and three children, Raymond, John and Lorraine. Born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Jan. 6, 1921, she married at age 21 and raised 3 children. Emily helped her husband in his music business, ordering instruments and keeping their finances. During lean times with the music business, she sold real estate and became a top sales agent in her office. After her husband’s untimely death at age 46, she continued to sell real estate, became a real estate broker, then bought out the Looman Agency in Coraopolis. In addition, she remained active in the Eastern Star, becoming the Grand Matron of the North Hills Chapter. For years Emily remained a member of the local Republican Party and Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church. After a few years as a real estate sales person, and obtaining a 2 year business degree, she became an assessor for Allegheny Co. Emily retired from the county at age 65 and continued to be active in all her adult children’s lives. Emily is remembered for being a wonderful mother, a fantastic cook, and a woman who gave frequently to close friends and charitable organizations. Family and friends received Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills, where a service will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Contributions may be made to the North Hills Chapter Eastern Star # 526, c/o Barbara Averell.
