Emil Ambrose Eyerman, Jr.

May 6, 1935 – December 1, 2024

Emil passed peacefully in the company of family on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 89.

Emil was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Virigina Florence (Bobak) Eyerman. He is survived by his loving children: Mark, LuAnn Holt (Mitchell), Christopher (Kate), and Gregory, and his grandchildren Brady, Ana, Meg, and Grant. He was also preceded in death by his parents Josepha and Emil Sr., and his siblings Jack, Laverne, and Mary Ann.

Emil was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on May 6, 1935. He attended Pittsburgh North Catholic High School. He went on to study at the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his undergraduate degree in engineering and then onto Carnegie Mellon University for his master’s degree in industrial administration. Emil spent his career as a professional engineer and general manager for Taylor Wilson Manufacturing Company (later Bronx-Taylor Wilson) traveling the world, often with Virginia at his side.

Emil was an avid golfer, playing into the last year of his life, and was a member for 60+ years of the St. Teresa Golf League. He was also an engaged member of Saints John and Paul Catholic Church where, as a senior himself, he participated in the Senior Connection outreach ministry with his sons. Emil was known for his warmth, sense of humor, and countless familiar sayings. He made friends wherever he went and kept them throughout his long life.

Emil’s family would like to thank the teams at Ridgecrest Senior Living in McCandless, as well as Hope Hospice and the Hillman Cancer Center for the excellent, gentle, and respectful care they provided.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Emil’s life on Friday December 6 from 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Devlin Funeral Home, Inc., 806 Perry Highway, North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial at Saints John and Paul Catholic Church (St. Luke the Evangelist Parish), 2586 Wexford Bayne Road, Sewickley, PA, 15143 on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrance to Covenant House, or St. Luke the Evangelist Parish.

News of my “Unc’s” passing saddens me. I believe he will have peace and comfort forever with our Lord. May all of the happy memories together bring the Eyerman family peace and comfort too. Sincerely, Bud, Lori and family. 🙏🏻

I’m very sorry to learn of Emil’s passing. He was a great guy! I remember running into he and his son’s at their “book club” meeting at Whole Foods restaurant years ago. My dad always talked fondly of him after their golf outings. I hope your fond memories and support from family and friends bring you comfort in the days to come.
