Ellen Jean (Campbell) Downes
Ellen Jean Downes, age 86 of Elizabeth Township, formerly of White Oak, passed peacefully surrounded by family on October 14, 2021.
Ellen was the daughter of the late George and Anna Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband William Michael Downes.
Loving mother to Chris Ann Downes, Maureen (Josh Peinado) Downes, and Michelle (Joe) Suyama; beloved grandmother to Emi, Kai and Rin Suyama, Eli and Lilah Peinado; second mom to Donald Boyd; dear sister of Don Campbell, the late Carl Campbell and George Campbell.
Ellen was an executive secretary at Firth Sterling before becoming the most loving and detailed-oriented stay-at-home mom. After her kids were grown, she thoroughly enjoyed operating a day care out of her home.
Ellen had a zest for life and a way of making everything fun. She relished the simple things -making Thanksgiving dinner with her mother’s stuffing recipe, playing a mean game of Scrabble (she always won), gallivanting around the township with her best friend Patti, bingo nights with her beloved sister-in-law Mary Ann, luncheons with her childhood friend Carolyn. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and bragging about her grandchildren. She loved them to the moon and back. She will be deeply missed by all those who love her.

Ellen Jean was my first cousin. My father Herbert and Ellen s father were brothers. I am sorry to hear that she past away. Ellen Jean has lots of cousins. Her father had 9 siblings. So there must be a lot of first cousin.
Deepest sympathy to Chris Ann, Maureen, Michelle and families.
