MONTEVERDE
EDWIN P., JR.
Age 73 of Ohio Twp., passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. Son of the late Edwin Sr. and Marianne (Breitenbach) Monteverde; He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Debra ( Herdman) Monteverde; Loving father of Debbie (Keith) Dolecki, Kelly (Thomas) Goldie, and the late Michael Monteverde; Proud grandfather of Taylor, Cooper, Chase and Danica; Brother of Aimee Henry (late Daniel), Pamela Bowers (Dennis), the late Roslyn White (Richard and Janet), Albert Monteverde (Marcia), Peter Monteverde (Edie) and Marianne Gaus (Kerry); Ed is also survived by many loving relatives and countless friends.
Ed built a beautiful life with his wife Debby starting way back when they first met at Carmassi’s at the young age of 16 & 17. After graduating from the Culinary Institiute of America in New Haven, Connecticut, Ed began his culinary career. This astounding career spanned over 51 years including catering to the family and friends of the North Boros for the past 36 years as owner of Monteverde Catering with his wife Debby. Monteverde Catering is a staple in our community in times of celebration and mourning and it was built upon the culinary philosophies of Ed’s training and experience and will continue to serve the community for the years to come. Outside of the kitchen, Ed was a proud father and husband who enjoyed hunting, fishing, campfires, cooking for friends, and spending time at his camp. Over the years, Ed has welcomed many to his camp, this place brought him such joy, and the opportunity to share his knowledge with anyone that was willing to listen.
Nothing made Ed’s face light up more than when he spent time with his grand babies, and he heard them calling for “Pappy” from the front door. Becoming a pap was his favorite role.
Ed left an imprint on each person he met and will be truly missed.
Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday from 5-7PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 806 Perry Hwy., Pgh, PA 15229. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the National Forest Foundation
