Edwin D. Shields
of New Sewickley Twp., passed in peace at the age of 82 surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Born June 17, 1939, son of the late Frank and Joy (Wagner) Shields. Beloved husband of Anna Maria (Negri) Shields, whom he married on August 3, 1985; father to Gayle (Ray) Chandler, Edwin D. (Jennifer) Shields, Jr.; step-father to Robert (Kathleen) Steele, Maria Attanucci, Angela (David) Price, Lisa (Peter) Germain, and Lori (George) Schoedel; Pap-Pap to 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; dear brother to Francis Shields and Joan (late Don) Metz.
Ed attended West View High School and was proud of his 33 year career as a Plumber in Local Union #27 of which he remained a dedicated member for 54 for years altogether. He took great pride in projects that included U.S. Steel Building, Pittsburgh International Airport, Heinz Field, PNC Park, and Three Rivers Stadium. After “retirement” he went on to work for Manheim Auto Auction for 19 more years. He had a love for boating, traveling, tinkering in the garage, bowling, fishing and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends. Lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pitt Panthers, and John Wayne.
Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, October 14th from 3-7 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Twp. Funeral Services celebrating the life of Ed will be held Friday, October 15th, at 11 am at the funeral home, with Rev. Matt Klenk officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Royal Cemetery, 2700 Mt Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Ed’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital/stjude.org.
