Of Adams Twp., on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Beloved son of William D. Schlegel (Ivy) and the late Michelle M. (Dangel) Schlegel. Loving brother of Maddie, Katie, and Lexi Schlegel and Megan, Michael, and Madison Buss. Beloved grandson of Robert and Judith Schlegel and John Dangel and Cathy DeMuth. Nephew of Jon A. Schlegel (Diane), Jennifer L. Gregory (Ted), Summer L. Ketchum (Adam) and the late Robert P. Schlegel, Jr. Also survived by many loving cousins. Drew had a love for life and excelled at anything he set his mind on. He loved adventures and his greatest love was working out and playing football. He had an amazing faith and we know he is in eternal peace with his mom. Friends received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., 724-772-8800. I was a HS Phys. Ed. Teacher and a Track & Field Coach at Mars during Drew’s sophomore and junior year. I was the Head T & F Coach the year he broke the Mars Men’s Long Jump record. I have coached 3 sports for 8 years. Drew was the most naturally gifted athlete that I have had the pleasure to coach, but was also one of the most stubborn ones. My heart breaks for your losses. I remember how it felt when we were all so close. I felt like I was a part of your family and you were part of mine. Thank you for letting me in your lives and I’m sorry we are not as close as we once were. I remember holding Drew’s hand and watching the fireworks, dancing with him at the banquet, and playing at home in the basement. I remember how cool the vine swings were in your woods when you all showed me and the Christmas ornament he gave me with a heart on it… The friendship I’ve had with you all is a really important one I value immensely.
