Dorothy Klein

On April 27, 2007, Dorothy Klein (Makowski), beloved wife of Peter J. Klein, born February 6, 1920, to Andrew and Mary Makowski, departed to her home in heaven. Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose devotion to God and her family was unsurpassed. As a member of St. Teresa of Avila Church for over 50 years, Dorothy was involved with the Christian Mothers and prepared Polish and European cuisine for hundreds of people yearly at the annual parish festival. The loving mother of 10 children, Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Gertrude McCann, Leonard Makowski, Margaret Snow and Bertha McNally, daughter-in-law Joanne, and children Mary Margaret and James Peter. She is survived by her adoring husband of nearly 64 years, Peter J. whom she married June 24, 1943 at St. Josephat Church on the South Side; by children Tom (Paula) of Cranberry Twp., Jim (Sally) of Millvale, Michael (Linda) of Mason, OH, Colonel Martin, USAF, of St. Louis, MO., Mary (Dan) Powell of Cranberry Twp., Rosanne (Michael) Cully of McCandless, Germaine (Michael) Krzan of Columbus, OH., and Peter (Caelan) of Durham, NC. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren Scott (Julia), Steven, Emily, Genevieve, Amanda, Jonathan, Adam, Geoff, Matthew, Jake, Mary Kate, Claire, Joe and Franny Klein; Liz (Sam) Short, Sarah (Erik) Warren; Caitlin, Daniel, and Andrew Powell; Megan Cully, Kara, Mike and Annie Krzan; Brian, Lisa and Matthew Rueger; great-grandchild Aaron Short; brother, Hilary (Dorothy) Makowski; brother-in-law Robert McNally and many nieces and nephews. Family and Friends will be received at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy., Sunday and Monday 2-4 and 6-8PM. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 10AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, The Most Reverend David A. Zubik, Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay officiating with Fr. Robert Vular concelebrating. Internment immediately follows at Holy Savior Cemetery, Pine Twp. The family would like to thank the devoted, caring, and kind staff of Sunrise Assisted Living, Adams Township, for their exemplary care of Dorothy, as well as the supportive staff of Trinity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The McGuire Children’s Home or to the Alzheimer’s Association. To Mom… Idz bogiem.
