Service: A Memorial Service will be held in August, 2025.

Deborah A. Lidey, formerly known as Deborah (Debbie) Lieb, was born on January 22, 1957,to parents Harry C. Lieb Sr. and Janet King. Debbie grew up to be the protective older sister to her younger brothers Harry Jr. and Alan, and her half-siblings Douglas and Linda. From a young age, Debbie was a devoted follower of Christ. Her faith-filled life was nurtured by her grandparents, Margaret and Albert King, who played a key role in her upbringing. Through her generosity, time spent within the church, and daily conduct, she allowed the light of her Savior to shine through.

After graduating from North Allegheny High School in 1974, Debbie met her husband, Richard Lidey. The two married in August 1977 and had four daughters: Jennifer, Beverly, Lauren, and Kristie. Her unwavering dedication to her family fueled her drive to earn a diploma in nursing from Shadyside School of Nursing. Later, she obtained her BSN and MSN from La Roche College.

Throughout her 32 years in healthcare, Debbie’s faith influenced the leadership roles she held. As evidenced by her positive attitude, ethical decision-making, commitment to excellence, and desire to help others approach challenges and find joy in their work, her faith promoted an attitude of service, fostering empathy and compassion with all who had
the privilege to know her. Debbie dedicated 25 years of her career to Western Psychiatric Hospital, advocating for vulnerable patient populations. While Debbie worked in various roles of nursing administration and quality control, she found her true passion in clinical
nursing education. As an advocate for student nurses, Debbie ensured her students received the best clinical opportunities, never allowing them to leave a clinical day unfed. Due to this passion, Debbie was awarded the 2022 Cameos of Caring® Nurse Educator Award.

Debbie was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in July 2024. While she had been marked as cancer-free after completing numerous rounds of chemotherapy and extensive surgery, the cancer returned two months later. She spent her final weeks connecting with close family and loved ones. After achieving her life’s greatest accomplishment—seeing all four
of her daughters in one day—Debbie passed peacefully in the early morning hours of May 28, 2025. She will be deeply missed as a comforting mother, devoted grandmother, and loyal companion. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and there wasn’t anything in the world she wouldn’t do for them. She leaves behind her husband devoted Richard Lidey. Her loving daughters Jennifer (Zachary Giegel), Beverly (Brian Kephart), Lauren (Daniel Martin) and Kristie (Michael Eutin). Her light will continue to shine through her grandchildren Nolan Giegel, Andrew Teagan Martin, Omi Kephart, and Talon Martin. Debbie’s siblings, Harry C. Lieb Jr (Elizabeth), Alan Lieb (Tracey), Douglas Lieb (Kimberly), Linda Biernesser (Aurther) and nieces and nephews.

The Lidey family would like to thank Dr. Courtney-Brooks and the oncology team, as well as the outpatient chemotherapy department at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, for the excellent care their mother received during a difficult time in her cancer journey.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to North Hills Christian Church.
