David Yon

David Allen Yon, affectionately known as “Herc”, was born in Homestead on Feb. 4, 1933. He was the youngest child of Chester and Edna (Strandberg) Yon. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He married the love of his life, the former Anita Masenko on May 12, 1956 and together they moved to Cranberry in 1967. He was a member of the Free Masons and retired from Bethlehem Steel. David passed away early Saturday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, and three brothers. Survived by his two sons, David S. Yon (Carol Gorman) and Alan E. (Shannon) Yon; two daughters, Anita (Matt) Federkeil and Beverly (Don Jr.) Wikert; nine grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Per David’s wishes, no services will be held, and his remains will be entombed next to his wife at Pinewood Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME OF CRANBERRY.
