BONE DAVID A. (Dave)
Age 86, of Cranberry Township formally from Wilkins Township, PA, Dave died on April 10, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Sega) Bone for 54 years; the proud father of Steven (Heather) Bone and David (Jennifer) Bone; and loving grandfather of Maureen. He was the son of Herbert L. Bone and Mina (Whittemore) Bone and brother of Herbert L.(Barbara) Bone Jr. and James W.(Marilyn) Bone who preceded him in death. Surviving are two nieces, Emilie (Purhar) Bone, Suzanne Bone and two a nephews, Herbert Bone III, James Bone Jr.
He was born in Pittsburgh, November 17, 1939, delivered newspapers thru grade school and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1958. During high school he worked for Isaly’s Dairy Company as a clerk then as head clerk before graduation.
He served with the US Army for three years as a Ballistic Missile technician serving at both Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
Following his military service he attended Indiana Institute of Technology (IIT), in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he received an Electrical Engineering degree with honors. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained a master degree in Electrical Engineering.
Over the first 25 years of his career following graduation from IIT, he worked at the several Westinghouse Electric locations in the Pittsburgh area until Westinghouse closed, and then he worked at Contraves Brashear and CDI Corporation as a contractor until finally retiring in 2011.
On October 2, 1971 following graduation from ITT, he was married to Rita Mae Sega, who survives. and had two sons Steven and David. Dave fathered his sons by joining YMCA Indian guide program (1980-1985) in which he and his sons held several office duties including Nation Chief. Actives were made up of monthly tribe meetings and four nation campout each year. During this period Dave also worked with his sons as a Coach then Manager to the Eastmont Baseball League (1980-1984).
Dave enjoyed snow skiing, golfing, bowling, traveling and working on his home. He and his wife Rita did a lot of travelling visited all the lower 48 states by car with Bill and Mary Ann Shade. Both Alaska and Hawaii were visited on tours. On separate trips, Dave and Rita visited the European countries of Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, France, England, Scotland, Wales . After retirement Dave and Rita took a tour of Australia.
Family and friends are welcome on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. A Blessing Service will be held Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Teresa of Avila Cemetery in Union City, Pa, where graveside military honors will be will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
