My sympathies and thoughts are with you Debbie, Casey and Heather.

I worked with Dan for over 19 years. He was a great guy and will
    be missed.

I consider myself to be the fortunate one for having been friends with Dan. His don’t make a mountain out of a molehill – life is complicated enough, attitude was contagious. His attentive kindness is uncommon. His commitment to whatever he was involved with was never less than 110%. His humor was never at the expense of others and he delighted in the simplest pleasures – a dry race or a successful Irish Night. If I had to pick one word to describe Dan, I couldn’t. Why limit it when so many are appropriate? Kind. Generous. Funny. Gentle. Humble. Tolerant. Grateful. Thorough. Level headed. Good solid citizen and an excellent example to the young adults that he would shepherd from race to race.

I don’t imagine he would care much for any fuss made over him, I can see him blushing. It is impossible to not feel the loss of Dan, but he will never be far away in spirit because his goodness would be difficult to forget.

No life passes without a purpose. Dan I believe had many, one of which he taught without even knowing it was, that if someone else chooses to be a jerk about something, that I don’t have to stoop to that level to be myself – Life’s too short to belittle – it’s not all about me. I am comforted in knowing that I am blessed to have been a friend of Dan Trail. My prayers are for you to find comfort too.
