Dale Edward Beatty, 74, of Mars, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2026.

Born Aug. 6, 1952, in Alexandria, Virginia, Dale was the son of Raymond and Lois Beatty. A gifted athlete from an early age, he excelled in baseball and football at Baldwin Whitehall High School and continued playing football at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Sports remained a lifelong passion. Dale enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball and daughter’s softball teams, sharing his love of the game with his children and the next generation. He was also a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan, proudly cheering for the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Pitt Panthers. Dale loved watching sports of all kinds on television, from golf to the Little League Baseball and Softball World Series. Whether playing, coaching or watching from the sidelines or his living room, sports brought Dale great enjoyment throughout his life.

Away from sports, Dale enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. He loved being outdoors, working with his hands and spending time on the things that brought him happiness.

Most of all, Dale cherished his family. Like many families, there were times when life was complicated, but the love he had for his family remained important to him. He treasured the time he was able to spend with them and the memories they made together. As his health made some activities more difficult over the years, those moments became even more meaningful. Whether watching sports, talking, laughing, sharing a meal or simply being together, Dale valued his time with family and took great joy in watching his grandsons grow.

Dale is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marlene Beatty; his children, Michelle (Sean) McElhiney and Chris (Julia) Beatty; three grandsons, Connor, Cameron and Bennett; brother Kenneth (Carol) Beatty; and sister Barbara (Denny) Weis.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at a later date with details to follow.
