Command Sergeant Major Leonard R. Babb, U.S. Army Reserve Retired, of Ellwood City, PA passed peacefully on November 19, 2025 at the age of 90, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on May 5, 1935 in Yuma, AZ to Rae and Mamie (Price) Babb.
He is survived by his loving daughters Michelle O’Brien (Billy Cardille) and Kimberly (Jim) Strassell; his grandchildren Steven Babb, Teresa Babb, Christopher (Megan) Bigley, Alec Mersmann, and Trystan Mersmann; his great-grandchildren Lapocka Stiles, Jasmine Babb, Olivia Bigley, and Aden Bigley who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Darlene K. (Nicolai) Babb; his son, Robyn R. Babb; his brother, Lonnie Babb; and his parents.
Command Sergeant Major Babb served his country with honor and distinction throughout his military career. Then continued serving as civil servant working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Shop 38. Outside of his service, he was deeply loved as a player and coach, known for his encouragement, strength, and the positive impact he had on both youth and adults alike. He enjoyed fishing and found peace and happiness in the quiet moments by the water.
He will be remembered for his dedication, his generosity, and the love he had for his family.
