Christopher Andrew Spiller, age 55, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, to Leroy and Leslie Spiller, Chris spent his childhood in Midland, Michigan. For the past 25 years, he called Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, home, building a life centered on family, faith, learning, and love.
From an early age, Chris cultivated many talents and interests, including art, playing the drums, and Tae Kwon Do. That curiosity and enthusiasm for learning remained with him throughout his life. He was an avid reader with a particular love of theology, and his Catholic faith was an important and enduring part of who he was.
At the heart of Chris’ life was his family. He was the devoted husband of Janelle (Krause) Spiller, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. Together, they raised their three children, Catherine, 23; Thomas, 19; and John, 16, who were his greatest source of pride.
Chris is survived by Janelle; their children, Catherine, Thomas, and John; his parents, Leroy and Leslie Spiller; and his sister, Rauchelle (Spiller) Ferguson, along with her husband, Arthur Ferguson, and their children, Paige, Lauren and Benjamin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Chris’ sharp, inquisitive mind shaped the way he engaged with the world. He was never afraid to question the logic of a situation or enter into a spirited debate. Even when challenging an idea, however, he remained mindful of the person with whom he was speaking and genuinely cared about others. His wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor brought laughter to those around him.
That same dedication and discipline were evident in Chris’ deep passion for Tae Kwon Do. Over many years, he devoted himself to the study and practice of the martial art, achieving the rank of 7th-degree black belt through the US-ITF. For Chris, Tae Kwon Do represented far more than physical skill; it embodied discipline, perseverance, humility, and continual growth.
Throughout his life, Chris also formed many lasting friendships. He valued those relationships deeply, and the loyalty and connection he offered others were reflected in the enduring bonds he created.
Above all, Chris will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a man of faith and intellect, a lifelong learner, and someone who pursued the things he loved with genuine dedication. His quick wit, wisdom, humor, curiosity, and love will be deeply missed by his family, lifelong friends, and all who knew him.
