Charles Hrach Wolf, 79, died on June 28 following a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease. Chuck was born in Franklin Park, Pa. and was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ruth Wolf. He is survived by his wife, Gail, to whom he was married for 57 memorable years. Chuck had two sons: David (Jennifer) who lives in Atlanta, and Scott, who lives in Harmony, Pa., and was blessed with five wonderful granddaughters: Jessica Wolf, Jamie Wolf, Liliana Wolf, Peyton Wolf, and Addison Wolf. He is also survived by a brother, Ken (Debra), two sisters: Joan Schenker (Fred) and Lynn Simpson, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Chuck attended North Alleghany High School; West Virginia University where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees; and the University of Massachusetts where he completed his PhD. Chuck always loved and appreciated nature and spent his career trying to protect it. Upon graduating from college, he worked for the federal government in the Departments of Forestry and Interior; in the later part of his career he joined the John T. Boyd company as a mining and geological consultant.
Adventure was something that always interested Chuck. He and his wife traveled around the world visiting 20 countries and 6 continents. He was a marathon runner, loved history, jazz, and enjoyed golf and wine making.
Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2 at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, July 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wexford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to Bethany Hospice (bethanyhospice.com) or Vincentian Home in McCandless.
