Charles (Chuck) C. Edwards
May 22, 1952 – January 21, 2025
Age 72, of Cranberry Township, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Son of the late Gerard (Jerry) and Laura Edwards; husband of the late Joanne M. Edwards; father of two children and their wives: Ian C. Edwards (Cindy) and Lyndsey Edwards Shiffrin (Andi); proud grandfather of Seth and Luke Edwards; brother of the late Anne Edwards and Katherine Edwards; also survived by many caring friends who valued his humor, companionship, and passion for sport. Chuck’s life can be characterized as a life of service. He was a public servant in the true sense of the word. As a longtime police officer for both the Palm Beach County Schoolboard and the Lake Worth Police Department, Chuck served and protected his community, whether that be students and staff or vulnerable populations in the city. He devoted much of his free time outside of his calling as a police officer to coaching youth and high school sports. Chuck served as a football coach for the Palm Beach County Youth Football League and coached girls’ basketball and softball for John I. Leonard High School and Palm Beach Gardens High School. More than a coach, Chuck was also a mentor, using sport to impart valuable life skills to the youth he served. He meaningfully connected with others through his work and sport, but his life cannot be reduced to work and sport alone. They simply served as vehicles through which he expressed care and guidance. Toward the end of his life, Chuck suffered much in the way of bodily pain, due to his chronic health conditions, yet he endured his pain and suffering with dignity and courage. He died peacefully by letting go, releasing his spirit to the Divine Source from which he came. Chuck’s passing to the Other Side, his return Home, was accompanied by the song, Elysium (“Now We are Free”) by Lisa Gerrard and Klaus Badelt. Play this song and think of him. Now, Chuck is free, dwelling in eternity with his beloved, Joanne, who embraced him after he offered his last breath. By remembering Chuck for his service to others, as well as for his strength and courage, through his life and in his death, he inspires us to remember our own. Services private. In lieu of flowers, for those that are able, make memorial contributions to the Karma Triyana Dharmachakra at kagyu.org. Professional arrangements are entrusted to Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry Township.
