On April 21, 2025, Catherine M. Fichter, age 93 of Ross Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife to the late Henry Fichter. Daughter of the late Mary and Karol Smolinski, sister of the late Mary Ann Yenchocic, Walter Smolinski and Joseph Smolinski. Loving mother to Bryan Fichter, Michael Fichter, Janet Brady (Scott), Cathy Senatore (Al), and Greg Fichter (Robin).
She was a cherished grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Erica Fichter (Josh), Tiffany Palmieri (Anthony), Alan Senatore (Haileigh), Ashley Leichty (Shane), Scott Brady (Alexis), Ryan, Tara, and Angela Fichter. She has also been blessed with 8 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Aria, Gianni, Daphne, Daisy, Nolan, Mia and one on the way. Her greatest joy was raising her children with her loving husband, watching her grandchildren for many wonderful years and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Henry was the love of her life. The first years of their marriage, when Henry was in the Armed Forces, she traveled with him to Oklahoma, Germany & Switzerland. Duckpin bowling with her husband was a great night out when their kids were young.
Cathy loved spending time with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed cheering on Pittsburgh sports teams and watching figure skating on tv. Her hobbies were cooking, baking and entertaining especially at the holidays. One family and friend favorite was when she and Henry would fry chicken together that filled the air throughout the whole neighborhood, it paired perfectly with her delicious homemade potato or macaroni salad. Another fam fav was her out-of-this-world chicken & dumplings and thumbprint cookies. Having fun on a bowling league with her friends was another hobby winning a “high-score” trophy. She devoted her time with the Soup Kitchen and Meals on Wheels ministries. Cathy was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila Parish for 61 years and enjoyed volunteering her time at the parish festivals.
For the last several years Cathy resided at Arden Courts. Our “Arden Angels” became family, along with the loving hands of Heartland Hospice. We’ll never forget all the love, support and special care that each and every one gave to our mom.

So sad to hear about Mrs. Fichter, she was always such a kind lady and raised a wonderful family. I remember so many days hanging out at the Fichter house, so many great memories. Praying for Bryan, Mike, Janet, Cathy, Greg.
I had the pleasure of getting to know ‘Cathy with a C’ at Arden Court where she shared a dining table with my sister, Kathy Rock. Cathy had the most beautiful smile! She would always tell me she liked my hair and would ask where I had it done. Which would make me smile! Anytime she was having a difficult day, I would ask her if she had children. She always proudly said ‘Yes – 3 boys and 2 girls.’ Then I would tease her about how much food she had to cook and laundry she had to do! Talking about her children always brought back her beautiful smile! I know in my heart that Cathy is now whole, healed, and smiling down on her children whom she loved. My deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother.
