In Loving Memory of Carrie Ann Burkley
July 24, 1960 to October 23, 2024

We take this moment to honor and celebrate the life of Carrie Ann Burkley (née Offman) a beloved member of the Allegheny Medical Practice family, a devoted wife, compassionate caregiver, animal lover, and most cherished friend. Carrie’s life was one of extraordinary dedication, kindness, and passion—qualities she brought not only to her patients but to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Carrie saw all people with a special spirit.

Carrie devoted over 27 years of her life to the healthcare profession, touching countless lives with her expertise, empathy, and unwavering commitment. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with high honors from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Nursing; her nursing undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and diploma from Conemaugh School of Nursing. Carrie was a Board-certified nurse practitioner (CRNP/APN, Nationally Certified by ANCC). Her career included significant contributions and dedicated clinical leadership at a wide of scope of medical delivery settings including The Hormone Center, Premier Medical Associates, UPMC Shadyside, and Indiana Hospital. The last eight years of Carrie’s remarkable journey were spent with Allegheny Medical Practice, where she found utmost joy in helping her patients (and entire families) through individualized care and multi-faceted therapies.

Carrie embodied the beautiful combination of profound wisdom and a deeply caring heart. She had the subtle, yet powerful, ability to show others that they were seen, heard and valued. Carrie always made sure they felt understood, and supported. She spent hours researching new protocols and treatments and presenting them in understandable format to her patients. Carrie had an innate ability to connect with people on a deep level, making every patient feel like they were her most important priority. Her passion for integrative medicine shone brightly, and she was an inspiration to her colleagues for her hard work, effectiveness, and gentle compassion.

Outside of her intense career work, Carrie’s heart found peace and solace in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending relaxing time by the pool whenever her schedule allowed, with her beloved husband (Robert M. Burkley), sharing laughter and joy. She delighted in gardening, where she nurtured life just as she did with those around her. Carrie’s love for animals was another extension of her generous spirit with several cats and several rescue dogs (the most recent dog saved from flooding in Kentucky). Her home reflected her joyful personality, sense of décor, coordinated furnishings and colors, but most especially, during the holidays, a special world of wonder. She meticulously built an enchanting winter wonderland that encompassed the entire house, including a Christmas Village that overflowed the family room, to bring warmth, goodwill, and a feeling of joy to all who visited. Known for her impeccable taste, Carrie had a love for beautiful shoes and handbags, all meticulously organized; her couture reflected her own special touch of elegance wherever she went.

Carrie was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a wonderful sister-in-law to her family and extended family, and mentor in her clinical career. These were her most cherished accomplishments. The love she had for her family, and the pride she felt in their lives was evident to all who knew her. Carrie’s vibrant legacy lives on not only through her family and extended family but through the countless lives she touched in her nearly three decades of healthcare practice. Her passion for making a difference extended beyond the exam room, and her impact will continue to ripple through the patients and colleagues she inspired.

Carrie Ann Burkley will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain with us; guiding us to live with the same generosity, grace, and dedication that she embodied. Rest in peace, Carrie. Your kindness, warmth, and light will never be forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held for Carrie at Devlin Funeral Home 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh PA 15229 (North Hills) on Friday November 8th, 2024 from 10 a.m. to Noon, with a service beginning at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Father John Burkley of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland.
