Carl E. Schaier, 76, of Hampton Twp., on August 28, 2012. Born Sept. 17, 1935 in Stanton Heights, he died in his sleep Tues. August 28. He took great pride in outliving all expectations with heart disease. Son of the late John and Hattie (Franks) Schaier. Preceded in death by his brother, Lt. Commander John D. Schaier. He proudly defended the country, serving in the Army during the Korea Conflict on the DMZ border. He founded, and was the owner/operator for 30 years, of his own business – Carl Schaier Insulation. He worked with residential homebuilders and many homeowners in the Pittsburgh area. He cared about his family and enjoyed traveling- especially internationally. Survived by his wife, Barbara (Pachesky); daughters, Rita, Carlyn (Fernd) VanEngelen; son, James; granddaughter, Nicole VanEngelen; nieces and nephews. Friends received Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp., where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. The family would like to give special appreciation to Dr. Mark J. Geller.
