Betty Richardson Dunlap

A Life Well-Lived and Cherished
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Richardson Dunlap of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, and formerly of New Sewickley Township, and Ross Township. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who peacefully passed away on January 31, 2025 at the age of 87.
Betty was preceeded in death only nine months ago by her beloved husband of 66 years James (Jim) Lowell Dunlap, Sr.
Betty was the daughter of the late Dr. Henry R. Richardson II and Dorothy Dalton. Betty married James (Jim) Dunlap, Sr. in 1957. She was the proud mother of Amy Kushik (Lawrence), and Jim Dunlap, Jr. (Wendy). She is fondly remembered by her granddaughters Kaitlyn Dunlap (Nick Hoch), and Sabrina Dunlap and her great-granddaughter Josie Hoch. She is lovingly remembered by her brother Douglas Richardson (Lianne) and her sister-in-law Judith Noone Richardson, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 66 years, James, and her brother Dr. Henry (Tony) Richardson (Judith).
Betty met James at the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Betty enjoyed teaching the wonderful 4th grade students at St. Francis Xavier on the North Side.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family. She was a constant source of support, wisdom, and love to her family. Betty’s granddaughters will remember her for her strength, intelligence and dedication to her family.
Services and internment will be private.

Amy, I shall use the info on the obituary you kindly sent me to pray by name for each and everyone in your family. Betty must have been a truly great mother to have produced a daughter like you. My heart aches alongside you. Don’t let go of Jesus’s hand during this grief journey. Practice His presence as frequently as you are able. I love you very much.
