Barbara Gail (Snyder) (Heeter)
Age 81, of New Sewickley Twp., formerly of Avalon, PA and Howland Township, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School and later received her BS from Duquesne University. After raising her children, which she claimed was the “best job ever,” Barb enjoyed a 20-year career with CNA Surety, retiring in 2005 as a Senior Surety Underwriter. Always active in church and community, Barb was a prior member of the Northgate School District Board of Directors; was a eucharistic minister at St. Ferdinand Church in Cranberry and Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren, Ohio; and was a member of the St Ferdinand’s Women Gathered and the Women’s Retreat initiatives. Those that knew Barb were likely touched at some point by her quiet kindness, especially in times of distress or need, through a supportive word, a phone call or a handwritten note. Yet she was never happier than when surrounded by her large, noisy family, reveling in laughter, story-telling and exchanges of quick wit. By her own assessment, she lived a good, rewarding life filled with fun and love.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Snyder and Beatrice DeCarlo Snyder, as well as her first husband, David L. Heeter. She was the beloved wife of Patrick (“Pat”) Kenney; loving mother of Jeff Heeter (Amy), Terri Penn (Tom), Mark Heeter (Kirsten), and Brian Heeter (Alexandra); proud Nana to 12 grandchildren; loving sister of Jean Dennison, Kristine Lampkin (Eddie), and Mary Ellen Rawlings; She is also survived by Pat’s children: Patrick Kenney, Jr., Lee Ann Damian (Steve), and Mark Kenney (Denise), and Pat’s 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as many other friends and relatives who will miss her dearly. Visitors will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., (724) 772-8800. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Ferdinand Church (Divine Grace Parish) 2535 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Twp., PA 16066 on Tuesday at 10AM. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Barbara’s name.
