Barbara Rogers

October 28, 2013

Born January 7, 1935 to Lester and Marian Giauque in Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2013 at her current home in Cranberry Township, PA with her beloved husband of 55 years, Clark D. Rogers, and children at her side. They previously had lived in Greentree for 48 years. After battling a lengthy illness, she looked forward to meeting her Father in Heaven and saying as Paul of old, “”I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith.””

Barbara is remembered as an intelligent, strong, righteous, creative, generous and inspiring woman. She was an active and enthusiastic member of The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints who lovingly found joy in helping others find the Lord’s restored church. A leader in The Relief Society organization, many spoke of the halo they observed around her while she spoke during her many leadership responsibilities. She was a sincere, respected and dear confidante to many, building lifelong friendships that all cherished. She nurtured not only her own children, but also the many sojourners that came through her home over the years. For 25 years she blessed scores of children with the love of reading and the written word as the Children’s Librarian at the South Side branch of The Carnegie Library. It was her joy to serve the community of the South Side.

Barbara is survived by her five children: Debra Biernesser, Chippewa, PA (Tom, who preceded Barb in death); Carlyn Johnson, Hudson, OH (Keith); Scott, Economy, PA (Sheila); Mike, Manassas, VA (Marcella); and Suzanne Moulton, Park City, UT (David);
Her four younger brothers: David Giauque, Phoenix, AZ; Bill Giauque, Provo, UT (Karen); Bob Giauque, Phoenix, AZ (Karen); and Doug Giauque, Baltimore, MD;
Twenty-three grandchildren: David Biernesser (Candice), Melissa Owens (Eric), Amanda Glenn (Brad), Laura Jensen (Steve), Ryan Johnson (Ang), Matthew Biernesser (fiancé Courtney Sumpman), Brandon Rogers, Aaron Johnson, Adam Johnson, Devin Rogers, Elise Moulton, Cindy Biernesser, Emma Moulton, Shaye Rogers, Ethan Moulton, Cameron Rogers, Elizabeth Moulton, Sedona Rogers, Nate Biernesser, Brylee Rogers, Halie Rogers, Evan Moulton and Colton Rogers;
And five and a half great-grandchildren: Scott Owens, Lance Owens, Briauna Owens, twins Jocelyn and Jessica Owens and baby girl Jensen due in January.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township, PA. Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 4th, 2013 at 10:30am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2771 Rochester Rd., Cranberry Township, PA 16066. Thank you, my friend, for all that you taught me. You were my angel when I first entered the family many years ago. You accepted me without question. I love you for that. And, now, your eternal reward. Will miss you dearly.
