Barbara A. Carr

August 10, 1942 - January 03, 2023

Visitation: Friday 3pm to 7pm with a Blessing Service at 6:30; Devlin Funeral Home, Inc. Ross Twp.

Barbara A. Carr, 80 years old, was called home to our Father on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 after a 5 month long battle.

Born August 10, 1942 to Stanley and Anne Sliwinski, Barb was known for her no-nonsense attitude, willingness to share her opinions and the occasional Polish saying thrown to add some spice.

Barb married her Trenton sweetheart, Robert Carr, June 1963, who preceded her in death in 1987. After starting their family in Chesterfield, NJ, they had a new work opportunity and moved to Pittsburgh in 1977. Together they raised two children, in McCandless Township where she was known for her fabulous Ladies Gourmet theme parties.

Although Barb graduated from Cathedral High School in June 1960, many came to know Barb when she returned to high school, North Allegheny School District, as a Media Technician / Stage Manager for 34 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her many nights working with students, staff and many volunteers putting together years of high school theatrics. She was always on the hunt for the perfectly themed outfit for opening night. The family joked she was the oldest senior that NA NEVER graduated.

In 1993, she was lucky to have met her dance partner, personal chauffeur and closest companion, Paul Coco. They enjoyed their weekends trips, flea marketing, and many concerts at the casinos.

Barb was the oldest of her siblings, Stanley Jr. Sliwinski (deceased), Dorothy Gaskill, Evelyn Sliwinski, and Thomas Sliwinski.

She was blessed to live within a few miles of her children and three+ grandchildren:
Her daughter, Cynthia (Carr) Winkles, son-in-law, Gregory Winkles (deceased), son, Robert Carr Jr. and her favorite daughter-in-law, Jenn Carr, her three grandchildren, Alexis Winkles, Noah Carr, Bailey Carr and future grandson by marriage, Sean Kalmeyer.

Since we count blessings in family members, Barb was blessed by her sister & brother-in-laws, Suzanne Carr (Thomas, deceased), Ronald & MaryAnn Carr, Patricia Walter (Bob, deceased), Kathleen & Pete Chamberlin, and Maureen & Arthur Cardinale (deceased) as well as their children and grandchildren and many nieces and nephews…so many blessings!!

Since her son, Rob coined the family phrase that we all use as goodbye, “SEE YA.. LOVE YA.. BYE”, it is only appropriate to bid farewell to the Polish Princess by saying “Do Zobaczenia!” which means “We will see you again soon!”

Friends received Friday 3 pm to 7 pm with a Blessing Service at 6:30 pm, at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME INC., 806 Perry Highway, North Hills.
