August “Gus” S. Mucha passed away peacefully with loving family by his side on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at the age of 83.

Gus was the son of the late Stanley and Louise Mucha and brother of the late Edward, Walter and Matthew Mucha.

Gus will be cherished and is survived by his son, Dr. Edward Mucha (Anita); his sister, Jennie Lacki (Ted); his brother, Anthony Wolczanski (Mary Ellen); his grandchildren, Dr. Kathryn (Mucha) McDonough (Kris), and Dr. Clayton Mucha; his nephews, Bob Lacki , David and Gary Mucha; nieces, Joan Wunderly (Arthur), Jane Sullivan (Bob), Joy Drew (Rob), Karen Mucha and Amy Kantenwein (Bob). Great -uncle to Brandon and the late Christopher Wunderly, Brooke Conicelli (Gerry), Meghan and Ryan Kantenwein. Gus was also a loving great-grandfather to Kaylyn and Konnor McDonough.

Gus was raised on Pittsburgh’s North Side and attended Oliver High School. He attended the University of Pittsburgh on a swimming scholarship and graduated with a degree in business. Gus also received an academic scholarship by winning the Pennsylvania High School history competition in Harrisburg.

Gus worked for the Federal government for forty years; thirty-eight years at OSHA and two years serving in the United States Army teaching our troops how to swim and survive in full combat gear.

After his retirement, he became an avid traveler. He logged many miles traveling to Europe and the West Coast. His greatest joys were his memories made with his loving family and friends.

Family and friends are welcome Friday August 21st from 2-4 and 6-8pm and a Blessing service Saturday, August 22nd at 10:30 am at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry Hwy, North Hills. Entombment will follow with military honors at the Christ the Redeemer Cemetery. Due to the current pandemic, a celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
