Audrey (Urben) Steinmetz

February 20, 1924 - January 25, 2025

Visitation: Friends received Thursday January 30th from 3 PM to 6 PM at Devlin Funeral Home, 806 Perry hwy.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial Friday January 31st at 10:30 AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.

On January 25, 2025 the Lord welcomed his good and faithful servant Audrey (Urben) Steinmetz home. She has joined her beloved daughter, Debra Ann Steinmetz and her husband of 59 years, Walter Steinmetz in heaven.

A devout Catholic for her entire life, Audrey, while she was able, attended mass and prayed for her family daily. She was a very talented seamstress, cook and baker (especially her apricot horns) who used those gifts to create a warm and loving home for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Pauline Urben. Her brothers John Jr., Edmund and Russell Urben and sister Eve Yakim.
Audrey was our family’s caretaker. We were blessed to have her with us for over 100 years. With her long life experiences and deep Catholic faith, she willingly shared her wisdom and guidance especially with her family. Audrey often said her favorite role was in her later years as care provider for her 5 grandchildren. She and Walter loved caring for them several days a week and the grandchildren relished all growing up together during their early years. She imparted love and wisdom to them that continues to resonate in their lives today.

Audrey is survived by her son Charles (Jill) Steinmetz, of Franklin Park and daughter Paula (William) Pfrommer, of Ross. Cherished grandchildren Matthew (Shelly) Pfrommer, Jonathan (Rachel) Steinmetz, Kate (Marcio) Pfrommer-Loma, Paul (Cara) Steinmetz, Adam Steinmetz and great-granddaughter Charlotte Steinmetz.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Vincentian Personal Care and Bethany Hospice for their loving and supportive care. A lifelong resident of Ross Township, Audrey will be buried from the same church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Teresa of Avila, where she was baptized.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Audrey’s name to Animal Friends.

To the Steinmetz family..Sending my heartfelt thoughts & prayers to all of you. I still remember spending time @ Paula’s when we were young & how I enjoyed those times. I remember her fried tomatoes!! But they were not green!! And I too had a couple of meaningful chats with her. 100 years is A LOT of wisdom. She’ll definitely be missed. Love & peace to all of you from Lori & Clint.
