Arthur Schoedel

of Southold, NY died at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport on December 3, 2013. He was 73 years old. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 29, 1939 to Arthur George and Ruth (nee Doherty) Schoedel. Raised and educated in Zelienople, PA, he served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965 and was stationed at Suffolk County AFB in Westhampton Beach. Arthur then went to work for Grumman in Calverton as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 1974. In his free time, he enjoyed sports and was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed membership in the Griswold-Terry-Glover Post #803 of the American Legion. Surviving are his children: Arthur of Southold, Jeannette Cooper of New Suffolk and Chris of North Dakota; ten siblings and six grandchildren. Friends received on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 & 6-8PM at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME of CRANBERRY, 2678 Rochester Rd., (724) 772-8800. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Ferdinand Church on Monday at 10AM with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Warrendale, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
