Andrew G.
Of McCandless Twp., originally from the North Side, on Thursday, December 31, 2020 after a courageous five-year battle with ALS. Andy would have been 91 on January 12th. Beloved husband of 68 years to Ann (Donahue); Dear father of Thomas J. (Janet) and James M. (Marianne). Proud PapPap of Patrick (Jordan), Daniel, Timothy, Kevin, Kathleen and Megan. Great-grandfather of Finn and Jude. Brother of Richard (Becky), Edward (Laura) and the late James C. (the late Judy), and brother-in-law of Mary Donahue. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Andy was a kind, generous and selfless man, always quick to help others but never wanting to bother anyone when he needed help himself. He was an altar server at St. Teresa of Avila Church and volunteered at Little Sisters of the Poor well into his 80s until the ALS slowed him down. He was the primary caregiver for Ann even while confined to a wheelchair. Any was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an artillery forward observer with the rank of Second Lieutenant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Teresa of Avila Church (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish) on Tuesday at 10AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the ALS Association of Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 416 Lincoln Ave., Pgh, PA 15209 or Vincentian Charitable Foundation, 8250 Babcock Blvd. Pgh, PA 15237. Arrangements by DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC.
