Age 90, of the North Hills, entered into eternal life at Vincentian Regency on Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Wife of the late William G. Schuck; mother of Joyce Payne and Barbara Slade. Born on July 16, 1919 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Helen and David Joyce; sister of the late Helen R. Joyce and Catherine (John) O’Hara; the loving grandmother of Juliana (Garth) Wootten, Jennifer (Patrick Johnson) Payne, Alicia Slade, Christopher (Elena) Slade, Douglas (Jennifer) Slade and Adam Slade; great grandmother of Margaret and Carolyn Wootten, Katherine and Liam Johnson, Sophia and Michael Slade, Logan and Hayden Slade, Tyler, Carson, Brady, Nathan and Gavin Slade; also survived by nephews, Dennis and Brian O’Hara. Alice worked at Claffey’s Beauty Shop and later owned a small beauty salon on Troy Hill for 20 years, (Alice’s Beauty Shop). After residing in Buffalo, NY for many years, she returned to the North Hills and was employed in the cosmetic department at Kaufmann’s Department Store. She was also active in the St. Teresa of Avila Guild and Christian Mothers. Alice earned a sewing degree at Clarissa School of Sewing, and enjoyed making ceramics, playing the organ, knitting and crocheting. Friends received Sunday October 11, 2009, 12 noon to 9pm at the T.B. DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Perrysville Monday, October 12, 10am. Burial will follow at Christ Our Redeemer North Side Catholic Cemetery, Cemetery Lane.
