Joan M. Holbrook (née Joan Mary Schnitgen), age 93, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025. Born on December 23, 1931, in Pittsburgh, she spent her childhood on the Schnitgen family dairy farm, where she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and close family ties.
Joan shared a rich and fulfilling life with her beloved husband, Charles “Chuck” Holbrook, traveling the world by his side, creating cherished memories together. She delighted in cooking, gardening, and welcoming family for holidays-her home always resonating with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her lovingly prepared meals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; her son, Ronald Howard Heintz; her brothers, Leroy and William; and her sister, Mae Katherine (Mick).
Joan is survived by her children: Randall G. Heintz (Roberta), Daniel W. Heintz (Sandra), and Kathleen J. Heintz Curtin (Jerry); her step-children, Chuck Holbrook and Angela Holbrook Berg; 16 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice.
May her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
