Nancy Ann Worek, a Pittsburgh native and lifelong resident, passed away on September 27, 2025, at age 75. Born on August 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Frances (Karrs) Huber. She earned a bachelor’s in French and master’s in library science from the University of Pittsburgh before enjoying a long career at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Downtown & Business.
Nancy married Thaddeus “Ted” Worek in 1972 and had two daughters, Stephanie and Frannie Worek. She was a devoted mother who also loved sewing, making braided rugs, supporting the Girl Scouts, bargain-hunting at flea markets, tending to her flower garden, and attending boxing classes.
In addition to her husband and daughters, Nancy is survived by her younger sisters, Doris (Mike) Formica and Barbara (John) Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, which hosted Nancy’s favorite rummage sale.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Devlin Funeral Home in North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Athanasius Church (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish) in West View with Fr. Bob Norton officiating.
