It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen Jean (Cricks) Henchar, 96, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She died on Friday July 18, 2025 at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She was born on January 16, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to parents Martin Jones Cricks and Ida Maria Yester Cricks. She spent her childhood in Etna, Pennsylvania.

After graduating high school in 1948 she went to work with various employers, including H.J. Heinz. She married William P. Henchar (d. 1985) in the summer of 1952 and they raised their five children in McCandless Township. She was an employee of North Allegheny School District for over 20 years. After retirement she relocated to Maryland. Throughout her time in Maryland she was heavily involved with many community activities, including being elected Resident Council President, having the opportunity to meet Pope Francis and continuing to be a Bingo enthusiast. Most importantly, throughout her life she was kind hearted, loved people, and was was loved by those that appreciated her fun and giving personality.

Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brothers Martin and Harvey Cricks, and sister Ruth Stankovich.

She is survived by her children: William M. Henchar (Kathy), Diane M. Powell (Carl), Robert J. Henchar (Marilyn d. 2024), Donald P. Henchar (Judy), and Janet M. Ortega (Michael); grandchildren Hannah Henchar, Aaron Henchar, Emily Hassett, Zak Henchar, Elizabeth Powell, Andrew Ortega, and Joseph Ortega; great-grandchild Hallie Hassett; and extended family.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wilson Healthcare Center at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, Maryland for their loving care of Eileen over the past 10 years.
