Martha Wandrisco Neff passed away on July 7, 2025 at age 104. She was born October 1, 1920 in Pittsburgh PA. She was the daughter of Marcella Augusta Martin and Gustave Joseph Wandrisco.
Martha was co-valedictorian of the Perry High School Class of 1938. She was an outstanding tennis player and a WIAL champion in archery. She regularly rode horses in Riverview Park. She modeled for Horne’s and Boggs and Buhl. Martha attended the University of Pittsburgh on a full scholarship and graduated with a degree in Mathematics in 1942. While in college, she was a member of Mortar Board honor society and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Her first job was with Gulf Oil Corporation transcribing seismic and gravitational data to the maps used for oil exploration.
She married her college sweetheart, Philip Emerson Neff, in 1944. Their first home was in Detroit Ml where the army stationed Phil. There, Martha worked for Clayton and Lambert making artillery shell casings. Then she was a stay-at-home mother of four. She was a beautiful seamstress who also loved needlepoint, knitting and playing bridge. She raised her children mostly in Ross Twp., but did live for 15 years in Greenville SC. Martha and Phil returned to Ross about 35 yrs ago. He died in 1991 and she lived in her home to age 101. Martha received excellent care from Vincentian Personal Care home in her final years.
Martha was also predeceased by her brothers, Joseph (Helen, Gerry) Wandrisco and Thomas (Nancy) Wandrisco, and sister Jeanne (William) Daly. She leaves behind a brother John (the late Ginnie) Wandrisco of Latrobe PA, her children Philip (Jody) E. Neff, Jr of Randolph VT, Cindy (and the late Ken) Bishop of Wauwatosa WI, Ginny (Reed) Campbell of Gibsonia PA and Nancy (Marlow) Madeoy of McCandless Twp PA. She has 3 grandchildren, Benjamin (Kim) Campbell of Wexford PA, Sandra Bishop (Bryan) Menard of Southwick MA and Becky Campbell (Lt. Col Tim USAF) Voigt of Alexandria VA. Martha’s eight great grandchildren are Zoey, Sydney, and Connor Campbell, Alyssa and Mason Menard, and Emily, Lauren, and Ella Voigt.
